May 14, Psalm 32, 51, 86, 122
Psalm 32 There is freedom in forgiveness and confession, I know this from first hand experience! There is no greater joy than being free. David knew this and proclaimed it in this Psalm. Thank you Yahweh for granting us forgiveness. We are blessed when we seek God’s forgiveness. When we keep silent about our sins, it eats us alive and is a heavy burden we were not intended to carry. When we acknowledge our sin to God, He forgives us. Therefore, if you are godly, you will repent and be forgiven. Then David goes on to explain that because of his forgiveness from God, he will teach others to do the same, as should we. Now, be glad in the Lord and celebrate His forgiveness…
Psalm 51 A famous Psalm that many a song has been written after and a lot of hearts have prayed. This is in response to David bringing in and having sex with Bathsheba and then having her husband killed because of the sins he previously committed. David asks for mercy and he receives it because God’s love is steadfast and enduring. Obviously when we sin against God, we also sin against others. That being said, God is the Judge and the one we must seek forgiveness for 1st. David wanted to be pure before the Lord and the only way to do that is to be honest with God and repent and turn from our sins. What does David pray? “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.” Purify me from my sins God, make my heart love you more than anything. Don’t leave me but restore to me the joy of knowing that you have forgiven me and saved me. What is the right sacrifice before the Lord? A broken spirit, or true repentance and turning to God - that is what He honors!
Psalm 86 God is our Encourager when times are tough and we are feeling alone or attacked. God can bring you joy and He will hear you. There is none like God, none. We must seek God first and last and everywhere in between every day as we walk with Him. God will take care of our enemies and we are to leave that to Him to work out.
Psalm 122 This is a good reminder to seek God together for the good of the body of Christ. Rejoice in what God has done individually and corporately in His people. Pray for peace and for the security of God’s people.
To sum it all up:
- Thank you Yahweh for granting us forgiveness.
- When we realize our sins, we are to come to God and seek forgiveness and then we are forgiven. We also need to get forgiveness from the ones on earth we sinned against.
- Peace only comes from God above, nothing can fabricate true peace. Not crutches or vices or anything gives long lasting peace. That is only from God and it is given to those who seek Him.
