April 30, Psalm 102-104
Psalm 102 Where are we to go for everything first? God. What about if we just want to complain? God. What about if we want to rejoice? God. What if our hearts are broken and our world is spiraling? God. We are to always go to God, and the Psalmist here teaches us that we are to go to God when we are in distress. When you are at the point of crying out - go to God in prayer and praise. Do you need Him now? Well, good news, God is always available for you to go to Him, either in praise or repentance. We get a picture of the Psalmists current state of distress, but then we see where he turns - in praise to the Almighty, recalling His greatness. God is real. God is alive. God listens to our prayers. God never changes! Trust in His steadfast goodness.
Psalm 103 This Psalm is a rather amazing prayer. This would be a good one to memorize… With everything that is in you, praise the Lord and Bless Him! We get a very quick and brief list of God’s attributes: He is
- Forgiver. Forgives our sins
- Healer. Heals our diseases
- Redeemer. Redeems us from hell
- King. Crowns us with continual love and mercy
- Merciful. Slow to anger, gracious
- Compassionate. Doesn't deal with us according to our sins
- Forgiver. As far as the east is from the west, He has forgiven us
That being said, Praise the Lord!!! We only have a limited time on earth and if we walk in His obedience, He gives us His favor and love. The opposite rings true as well. Walk in disobedience or on your own not needing Him, you do not get His favor.
Psalm 104 We are learning here about how to praise God for being the Creator and Sustainer of all things, with some great examples in nature about God’s provisions. All creation is taken care of by God, and it seems as though the animals know it! Unfortunately, not all humans give credit where credit is due. When you realize the greatness of Creator God, we are to sing to Him and praise Him as long as we live!
- We are to turn in praise to the Almighty, recalling His greatness and never listening to the enemy that tells us not to go to God. God never changes! Trust in His steadfast goodness.
- Look at the list of God’a attributes and ponder them, then worship Him for being so good to us
- Always know that God is there for you. Trust him and pursue Him not, sin.
