About this study

Thanks for stopping by my site. I decided last year (2015) to do a Bible study/commentary while going through the Bible chronologically. It is geared more towards those who haven't read much of the Bible... Join me on this journey?

June 1: Psalm 119:89-176

June 1, Psalm 119:89-176

Psalm 119:89-176 We are continuing to finish the longest chapter in the Bible! I find it interesting that some people don’t find the purpose of this Psalm. It just reiterates to us that we are to love God’s laws and delight in Him for them.
God’s Words are forever and firm - this only works because God is both of those, along with being faithful! Our God is the one who saves us, and again, this is only because of who He is. We are to meditate on God’s words all day long - this is a privilege for us to be able to do. We are to stay in God’s word to keep from stumbling.. God’s word is a lamp for our walks - it illuminates the path that we are to go on. We will stumble if we are walking in darkness. Therefore, if you claim to be a follower of Christ, then act like it. God will give us understanding when we seek Him and we need to remember that all of God’s ways are right. God is all together righteous, and yes, He is right! We don’t need to be ‘important’ in the worlds eyes, just in Gods eyes.
God is our Deliverer, also according to His word. So, don’t forget that when life is tough, do not swerve from your firmness in God, rather stay on the path that He is illuminating for us. Stay focused on Jesus, stay focused on God’s words and you will not stumble. God is there ready to help you, if you have chosen to follow Him. Can you say with the Psalmist, “I long for your salvation, O Lord, and your law is my delight” - Can you say that from your heart and show it with your life?

To sum it all up:

  • Does it make sense that we are to stay in God’s word to keep from stumbling? It helps us to pursue righteousness when we are focused on Him and doing our best to live for Him.
