About this study

Thanks for stopping by my site. I decided last year (2015) to do a Bible study/commentary while going through the Bible chronologically. It is geared more towards those who haven't read much of the Bible... Join me on this journey?

June 17: Proverbs 25, 26

June 17, Proverbs 25, 26

Proverbs 25 The next few chapters are compiled by the men of Hezekiah for Solomon. There are so many powerful proverbs in these chapters, and I will be highlighting a few. Overall, we are cautioned to act wisely in our dealings, to be teachable and humble. We are to fight the urge to selfish and greedy, because what those lead to is destruction and hardship. Don’t overstay your welcome - that would be selfish. Jesus quotes vs 21… but even if the coals are thrown onto our enemy, we are not to be doing things for the sake of vengeance. Take care of your enemies to turn them to repentance, which is how God will reward. It would be selfish to be nice hoping that someone gets ruined. Keep self control at the top of your game, or your life will lead to destruction.

Proverbs 26 We are to be very wise in all of our dealings. We have been cautioned all through Proverbs about seeking wisdom, now it is time to apply your wisdom. Do not be a fool in your dealings, that would be pitiful with all that you know. Rather, pursue wisdom that comes from God and apply it, or you will be a fool.

To sum it all up:

  • Strive for selfless living - giving up of yourself for the good of others. This can be a continual challenge, but accept the challenge, and be wise in your actions.
  • You know the good you are to do - now go do it! Nothing less than your best for your Savior
