Jan 14, Job 38-39
Chapter 38 - The Lord answers Job! Job’s has been asking for an audience with God for many times, expressed in the chapters and now he finally gets it. You ever hear that old saying, be careful what you wish for? You just might get it… and Job does. God, Yahweh, answered Job out of the whirlwind (Verse 1). Job’s ‘friends’ and Elihu were all wrong and Yahweh comes personally to let Job know. God starts by telling Job to man up and get prepared for action, and does a beautiful explanation on Creation, God’s power and governance over all mankind and creation. For those of you who are crazy and interested about constellations and the like, God talks about them as well in 31-33. The chapter is wrapped up by God explaining how He literally takes care of everything, including feeding all the animals of the world. Also take a look at verse 36. Here we learn that God gives wisdom and understanding to man, it isn't self achieved, but a blessing and gift from the Almighty.
Chapter 39. God is not done yet! We are given great detail on how God is watching out for His creation and sustaining the things He created. It would be easy to read this chapter and not slow down enough to realize that these chapters today rebuke the teachings that a God did create the world and then left the world to fend for itself (Deism). Here we learn that God is taking care of what He created. And we also learn that God is the one who makes things the way they are: He makes the some animals stupid (like the ostrich in verse 17), the horse fearless (in verse 22), and even commands the birds where to make their nests. Do we really believe this? Or have we bought the lie that they have evolved into accustomed migration patterns, without the recognition of realizing that it is the Lord who guides them and feeds them? If we believe what the Bible says, then this is great news for us, because all of this gives us peace knowing that this also includes God taking care of us!
To sum it all up:
- Yahweh is involved and interested in every aspect of His creation. From the lowest bug, to the average human. I think that it is great that God did give Job a personal response and was patient enough with Job so that we could learn from him and understand what kind of men and women God is calling us to be, or not to be. And that we could learn first hand, how involved our Creator really is in every facet of life. I am glad that He is involved and cares about us. We are not alone!
- Since the Lord of Heaven is in charge of all of this, all the Earth and all continuation of the planet, then He is also in control of our individual lives. And if the baby ravens cry out to God for food and help, how much more are we to look to Him for what we need? God is willing to look upon us and our needs. Go to Him. He is a good God who knows what we need.
